Even without experience, you can work as a mechanic

Why I Chose D-Plus

The reason I chose D-Plus was because I was told that even without a mechanic’s qualification or experience, I could still work as a mechanic. I graduated from a liberal arts university with no connection to cars at all. During my job search, I developed an interest in cars and liked working with machines, so I considered pursuing a career as a mechanic. However, I thought I would need a qualification to become a mechanic, so I had given up on the idea. But when I attended a joint company information session, an employee reached out to me and told me I could still do the job without experience, which made me want to join D-Plus. Ultimately, the deciding factor was the interview with the CEO. I felt like I could personally experience what kind of person was managing the company and what direction the company was headed.

What I Learned from Training

The training takes place both at the headquarters and at actual stores. At the headquarters, we had lectures on business manners such as phone etiquette and exchanging business cards. At the stores, the salespeople interacted with customers, while I, as a mechanic, performed tasks such as oil changes and inspections on customers' cars. I was guided by senior employees while performing these tasks. Additionally, we covered the products sold by D-Plus and popular car models, which was practical and helpful.

Impressions Before and After Joining

There was no significant change in my impressions of the company. Regarding the work, I have been given a lot of responsibilities despite having no experience. I initially thought that not having qualifications would limit the tasks I could do, but that wasn’t the case at all. I have been taught more than I expected. The average age of the employees is young, so I believe the staff members get along well with each other.

Advice for Newcomers

It would be helpful to practice basic things like using polite language, such as honorifics, during part-time jobs. This will be useful for job hunting or once you're employed. Additionally, practicing phone etiquette would also be beneficial. I struggled with phone calls, so gaining experience beforehand would help you stand out from your peers after joining the company. Regarding job hunting, I think it’s important to find out what you want to do early on. D-Plus is in the automotive industry, but you don’t necessarily have to love cars. Even small things, like enjoying talking to people, would be very welcome.
